The Jedi are among the most revered warriors in the galaxy.
But in a one-on-one sales contest against the Sith, they’d lose each time. There, I said it.
Whoa…put the lightsabers down, let me explain.
You see, the Sith and the Jedi are different in how they handle their emotions. Sithlords embrace anger, revel in fear and draw their strength from pain.
The more powerful the feelings of anger, the more powerful the dark side is
But as for the Jedi, they’re bound by the Jedi Code to ignore emotions. I’m serious, the first line in the Jedi Code is…
No emotions, but peace
This makes emotional manipulation the weakest link in the Jedi suite of skillz.
But the problem with humans, is no matter how much you tell us to “ignore out feelings”, we’re still gonna feel.
In fact, Darth Sideus knew this and used fear and anger to seduce young Anakin Skywalker to the dark side. At that point, Anakin was already a fairly powerful Jedi, who’d demonstrated his faith in the Code time and time again.
Even if it meant refusing orders from the Jedi council.
But not even the code could quell his inner demons.
And he ended up betraying his fellow Jedi ( one of whom was like a brother to him ), slaughtering a whole temple of children… and engaging in a galaxy wide Jedi genocide campaign.
All from a little “emotional manipulation” from Darth Sideus.
And that’s the key to salesmanship
Remembering how, no matter how cold someone may seem, deep down inside they have emotional drives you can control and influence. You can play with them, rub salt on them…and drive them to an indecribable fit of rage.
Then, you can seduce them to the dark side… your product, your solution to their problem.
And, to wrap this up, here’s a blatant pitch from me to you:
Got a product? Want to seduce your market with emotional, high power copy tugging on their heart strings to bring them to your dark side?
Then go over here:
… and let’s wield the power of the Sith and seduce your customers.
