… good question isn’t it?
After all, with social media you don’t have to pay any subscriptions… worry about promotion and spam folders… or even open rates. If they see your shit they’ll probably start reading.
So on paper, it actually kinda makes sense to just skip the “email” part and just go full blown social media and pitch to your followers. Unfortunately as with all things which are on “paper”, it’s easy to fold the paper and wipe it on Big Foot’s ass. Let me ask you:
What if you suddenly woke up one morning and out of fucking nowhere…
You can’t promote your stuff to your followers.
… no matter what you try.
It’s all gone.
Everything you worked to build. And now your revenue had taken a nose dive to the negatives as you run around like a virgin having his first visit into a strip club.
Because selling your shit on social media is no different from what my old Boss at the farm I worked at did:
He farmed on another man’s land, on a long term lease agreement.
Unfortunately the man who owned the land was a rather powerful individual. One who literally told him to get off his land one evening… at gun point…
And he ended taking the crop too. If I recall correctly the crop was worth at least $180k. Thus, just like how farming on another man’s land indirectly means they own your crop…
When you’re growing your “farm” on a social media… that’s not following you own.
It’s a following you “control”.
Problem with followings you control?
They can be taken from you. For any reason. Even something as simple as Zuck waking up on the wrong side of his gold plated billionaire’s bed…
is enough for him to yeet your social media biz off the interwebz…
Essentially flushing your income stream down the shitter.
This is where email comes in. Why?
Because unlike social media followings… which you basically control…
Email is essentially a following you own (heck, you can even back your list up and import it into another email marketing software if you get kicked off your current one). You’re essentially building your farm on land you own.
And the best part about land you own?
Nobody can tell you to fuck off.
Till the next wave of madness…
