Last night I sat down and watched a video with my younger brother, Frank.
To be honest video IS extremely funny yet to me the magic had worn out and I was calmly waiting for it to end while resisting the urge to chop my hand off out of pure boredom. My brother on the other hand was totally enthralled by what he was seeing, bursting out in uncontrollable fits of laughter while I was sitting there like an idiot wondering why HE was laughing and I wasn’t.
Then the truth finally hit me.
Far as I was concerned the video was old news to me and the magic had worn out yet to my brother this was all still new. The old segments and parts which made me burst out laughing where now working on him because he’d never watched the clip before.
This is the exact same thing with your ads.
You may feel like an ad isn’t as exciting as it was when you first ran it. Or maybe an ad just “feels” too old to keep using.
However, while the ad is old news to you it’s a whole different story to any new prospects who come across it.
In fact, new prospects who desperately need your solution will see your ad as an angel descending from the heavens reaching out with one hand, and with your product in the other as an angelic choir sings in the background to celebrate the end of their problems.
To them, your so called “boring” ad is a blinding god-send!
So don’t be so quick to dismiss an ad because the magic is gone.
The only way to tell if an ad should be replaced is “by the numbers”, as Sir Gary Of Halbert himself explained. And if your current ad is now losing traction and not performing as it was I’m open to joining forces with you so we can craft a new ad to take up the mantle.
