Seriously… it sucks… here’s why…
Take a moment and imagine this…
You’re seated in your home enjoying a cool refreshment at the end of the day when a crazed salesman crashes his car through your door taking a good chunk of the wall in the impact.
While you’re seated there in pure shock, the salesman then waltzes out of his car and launches into a 5 minute pitch selling his Asian erectile dysfunction medicine to you.
Of course it is!
Weird as it may sound, that’s exactly what spam would be like if it was done in the real world with no restraints to the spammers. Now you may be wondering why I’m talking about spam of all things. Well, you see I got into a mini argument on ye olde Facebook with another guy who insisted that spam was extremely profitable if done correctly.
He even added on how you’re safe as long as you’re not in America ( or any country where spam is illegal ).
No offense to the guy I argued with but this mentality has a problem.
For starters, aside from being fucking stupid thinking like that is a complete disregard for the code of honor. This is a clear indicator that you don’t respect your prospects, and that you’re willing to invade their inboxes even if it means buying their email address from some shady bastard getting his dick sucked in a hooker filled opium den downtown.
If you’re going to insist on spamming your prospects because it’s “only illegal in America”, highly technical and extremely profitable then you might as well be pushing crystal Meth to junkies on a street corner.
That’s also rather technical, profitable and illegal in America.
If you think like a spammer you’re no worse than a drug dealer. And you’ll never be as cool as Walter White while doing it either.
However, if you want to stay on the legal ( and safer ) of the email marketing funclub and build your list without buying any shady ( and unqualified ) email addresses, then you and I should have a quick strategy chat and discuss how we can pull it off.
