Had a small talk with my younger brother this morning.
He’s an artist and I set up a Facebook page for him where he can upload his art and market himself yet he’s been rather lazy about it.
He’s damn good that’s for sure however he has the self marketing skills of a rhino trying to sell a pound of crack cocaine to a policeman ( I’m teaching him the ropes and he’s getting better everyday ).
Now, the reason why I’m telling you this is to remind you that it doesn’t matter how good your product is if you’re not putting it in front of your prospects then it doesn’t exist far as they’re concerned. It’s not rocket science. It’s not some advanced “marketing mumbo jumbo”.
It’s common sense.
Problem is though it’s all too easy to fall into the “product narcissism trap” where you focus so much on the product you forget about about the “selling” part. Happens to freelancers all the time.
Just remember this:
The infamous line which goes,
Build it and they’ll come
…just doesn’t apply in the real world.
You’re gonna have to build it. Tell em about it. Get them to come. And take their money. And if you’re gonna do that you’re gonna need some high powered copy to make sure they don’t go to the other guy down the street.
…Till the next wave of madness… Vae Victis…
PS- For copy that gets them to come, and persuades them to buy, hit me up over at:
or fire me an email over at:

And I’ll get back to you.
PPS- I seriously don’t know what movie that quote was from or who between Michael Keaton and Kevin Costner said it… if you do know please enlighten the me.
