My country ( Zimbabwe ) is at it’s tipping point. People are pissed off about how bad the economy’s become and after years of putting up with it, they’re taking a stand.
Some “rebel” organised a “stay away” or sorts assembled the masses in a co-ordinated day of not showing up for work.
Essentially “shutting Zimbabwe down”.
Now, I’m not gonna get all political here. That’s not my damn job.
But I am going to point out the simple marketing hack used to pull this off
You see, my fellow countrymen have shared the same gripes for a few years now. It’s no secret. Just pop onto the news and you can see how bad things are here.
At the same time, all of the them had the exact same “group of people” to blame for it.
All they needed was a spark to light the flames… and push them into action.
Even if that spark was something as simple as a hashtag ( fuck… I hate that word ) or a viral whatsapp video.
Tapping into their inert emotional pain and using it to persuade them to take action.
Right now, your customers probably have their own gripes and issues they all share. And even if it’s not all of them sharing the problems, you can find a few trends common across most of them.
If you can regularly address those complaints in your content, and show them you understand how they feel…
You build massive levels of trust in your customers
And it’s even better if you can find someone ( or something ) to blame for it.
People, your customers included love tossing the blame around for their problems. Simply finding a common enemy for your followers to band up against creates a massive bond.
And, if you can combine this simple strategy with email marketing, you’ll have an effective 1-2 punch in your arsenal. Hopping into their inbox on an regular basis and reminding them no matter how bad their problems are… you understand them.
And you have a solution for their problems.
