There’s another factor to the sales equation.
One which direct affects how your prospects are going to react to your copy. I’ll reveal what it is in a moment but first let me put in into perspective.
As some of you know by now I had a mini “pickup artist” phase few years back where I worked my ass off to catch up on the male female interaction dynamics I missed out on during my years as an introverted depressed teenager.
That being said one of the most important lessons I picked up was the fact that when you approach a woman you must do it in a way where you maintain masculine control of the situation, without making the woman feel physically threatened. Read that again. You must maintain masculine control and lead the interaction without making the woman feel physically threatened.
Because my demeanor during the approach directly influenced how the woman would respond to me.
It didn’t matter what I said to a woman, but how I said it. The attitude behind the words carried 70% of the impact and this idea literally blew my mind. One phrase said with confidence has a completely different response ( it caught their intrigue ) from the same phrase said with a nervous demeanor ( that scared the women off ).
It wasn’t about some magic line or secret phrase I had to learn.
It was the “seduction environment” I created before and during the interaction that determined my success.
Mastering this one simple idea put me lightyears ahead of guys who seemed like naturals with women because I understood something they didn’t.
And so it is when it comes to copy.
You see, one of the most astonishing facts I learned when I read the Ad Week Copywriting Handbook by Joe Sugarman was the importance of creating an “optimal selling environment” in your ad.
This is composed of such factors as:
- The typeface you use
- The images and illustrations you pick
- The layout you use in your ad
- The actual place you’re running your ad ( e.g Wallstreet journal vs National Inquirer vs Hustler )
- How your reader got to your ad ( through Google? A display ad? An email? Word of mouth? Kissing a leprachaun? You need quality traffic from a quality source. Don’t go buying ad space on a porn site now unless you want your paid traffic choking the chicken to your copy. )
- …And loads of other factors I can’t list here.
Look, bottom is… you want to create the ideal environment to build trust in your prospect.
Even the best copy in the world will crash and burn if the reader thinks you’re scammer.
