Two weeks ago McDonald’s launched a service where it’s customers could design their own custom burgers and get a free burger. These customer burgers where then uploaded to their website to show off their creativity.
In an ideal world, people would create unique burgers stretching the imagination.
Strange new combos of meat. Vegetable. And grain which tempted even the most disciplined tastebuds.
However, this is not an ideal world we live in
Oh, it’s quite the opposite.
Instead of crafting impressive burgers, McDonalds’ customers created the most offensive monsters you’ve ever seen.
- Sexist? Yes.
- Racist? Yes.
- R-rated? Yes.
- Brilliant in their originality? Hell yeah!
In this world, thanks to the power of the interwebz. Anyone can be as crassly offensive as they want knowing they’re protected by the anonymity of the interwebz. And it is here, you see the true nature of mankind.
It doesn’t matter how high up on the ladder your customers are. Deep down they’re as human as everyone else.
Strip them of their titles. Uniforms and positions, and they’ll be cracking a few dirty jokes with their peers over a warm beer.
When nobody’s looking, your customers ( yes, even those high and mighty B2B types ) love letting their hair down and taking a moment to be themselves.
And just like everyone else, they’ll appreciate an entertaining email with sweet content every now and then.
Or even daily.
They want to laugh.
They want to be entertained.
They want to know their problems can be solved. And that you are the one to do it.
Because deep down inside… they’re human too.
Make sure you are the one they look forward to receiving an email from.
