There are two unchangeable rules when it comes to sales.
1 If you try selling me a lightsabre I’ll but it.
2 You can’t sell to everyone.
Let’s put my Star Wars fixation aside and let’s focus on the second rule for a moment.
You see, a few days back I got shot down by this girl I tried asking out.
Apparently my approach was “way too forward” for her liking. What I wanted and what she wanted didn’t match up.
Now I could’ve just changed what I wanted to match up with hers. Yet that would be no different to getting on my knees and kissing her ass to take her out on a date.
However, I’m not going to toss away my dignity just to close a deal with a girl and go on a date with her.
I’ve had enough girls say yes to me to know my approach works at not only getting me laid, but also at filtering out all the other girls who would’ve given me problems and said no later along the seduction process.
As much as I wish I could strike a 100% success rate I know it’s impossible. But the good news is there’s just way too many women out there for me to get stressed by being turned down by one ( I’m serious. With a global population of 7 billion there are at least 200 million single girls my age waiting for me to work my magic on them ).
This is basically the same thing as how you should handle your leads and prospects
There is no way in hell you’re going to close every prospect who waltzes into your store. Or every Tom, Dick, Harry and Jane who stumbles onto your website.
Yes, it’s depressing to think about yet that’s the reality we gotta live with.
The best thing you can do is to focus on closing your ideal leads prospects without selling your soul to the devil trying to close the other lot.
You can’t afford to compromise your values and policies to please one lead when there are many others out there waiting to give you their money. Without you having to putting on a mask and pretend to be who you’re not.
Bottom line is
If your sales message reliably closes leads and generates sales, then you shouldn’t be caught dead trying to please customers who would never buy from you otherwise… unless you bent over backwards to change yourself enough to please them.
Be you. And nobody else.
Till the next wave of madness.
