College was the shit.
We once took this super cool lecture that just stuck into my head as if a mad viking beat it in with a hammer. I’ll explain what this lecture was and what it has to do with you in a moment but first let me put in into perspective.
So, last night I was busy making some chicken-ish recipe ( look, it’s still meat. Stop laughing at me ) when I reached for the crushed garlic in the fridge. After putting the stuff in the stew I was cooking I noticed the price-tag on the bottle and the first thing that came to mind was,
” how the hell do they get away with this ? ”
Not going to quote the price but all I can say is they charged way more for that jar of crushed garlic than they did the actual full fresh cloves.
This brings us back to that college lecture I mentioned earlier
Where they explained an important concept known as “Value addition”.
It’s simple really, you can sell full cloves of garlic for the normal price or you can cut the garlic up and toss it into a jar of vinegar to double it’s price. You can sell a sack of potatoes for the normal price or you can slice up just a third of the potatoes in that sack, and sell them for as pre-cut potato chips at the same price as a full sack.
Farmers do this all the time and the list goes on and on and on but I’m sure you catch my drift.
It’s the same with your products.
Find a way to add value to your product so you can reasonably boost it’s value.
It can be as simple as offering a few bonuses, to being as complex changing your targeting and positioning.
So, find what works for you.
And if you want my help in brainstorming value addition strategies then we should hook up and get cracking on raising your product’s value. Just to be clear though, I’m not value addition guru but I have a few crazy ideas regarding positioning and bonuses, as a few of my clients can testify.
Plus, I’m also open if you want me to write the sales copy to sell your product or services.
