I was a farm hand once upon a time.
For nine months I spent 12 hours each day mixing the most dangerous pesticides and poisons known to man for my boss and I had to walk 3 kilometers to and from the farm.
One fine day a random stranger walked up to me on my way to the farm. Apparently he was an illegal gold panner who’d struck gold the previous night and just had to share it with the first random stranger he saw.
This guy just waltzed up to me…
And sparked a conversation with me just so he could get the chance to show off his little bag of gold. I could’ve been an undercover cop, or a crazy murderer who killed illegal gold panners to steal their loot!
But he didn’t care!
Now, ask yourself. Why is that? Why didn’t he think just for one second that I might have been tried running away with his gold before he gave me the bag to look at myself?
Easy. He wanted to be admired and recognized for his hard work. Gold is hard to find. To him, finding that small amount of gold made him so damn proud of himself that he just had to share the good news!
Moral of the story?
