I haven’t spoken much since last Saturday.
Not figuratively, no. I mean I haven’t been able to speak at all. I got my tongue pierced on Saturday, and as part of the healing procedure my tongue got so swollen I couln’t move it or eat. And no, it didn’t hurt in case you’re wondering.
So now, since I couldn’t talk I was stuck on the listening end of every conversation I got roped into.
What a change this was.
Instead of listening to reply I was now listening for the sake of listening. Things started making more sense now in the few annoying conversations I wasn’t tempted to drill my ears out…
And you know, the same thinking could be applied to how you handle your marketing.
No, I’m not saying go get your tongues pierced.
What I am saying, is you should take a moment to stop talking and start listening to what your customers are saying. Not just to you. But to each other as well.
Stop listening to them just for the sake of “sharpening your marketing” and selling your services to them.
Instead, listen to them to understand them. To “walk a mile in their shoes” as some would say and look at the world from their point of view.
You’d be surprised what you’d learn.
Anyways, while I’ve always implemented a brutally effective market research protocol which let me listen in on your market before I wrote your copy, I’m constantly improving it for massive damage.

PS- I think it’ll be at least Sunday till I can speak normally.
But until then, I’ll keep listening.
And once again, here’s where to go to join forces with me:
