There are only two truths in this world.
1- I want my own lightsaber.
2- If you tried running some of the ads which used to run 25 years ago… Your business would not only go broke. It would be boycotted completely.
Back then, markets where completely different. The people’s level of education was completely different. Social norms and standards where completely different.
Advertisers could get away with ads which would seem offensive by today’s standards
Do you think you could get away with running either of these headlines…
- Do you still beat your wife?
- More doctors recommend smoke camels
The point is, markets are ever changing. Never static.
As social trends shift, so do the desires and buying motivators in your market.
New problems will pop up out of nowhere, needing new products to solve them. Old problems will fade away. Problems will change into something which need an entirely now product to satisfy.
Or, at least a new pitch for the old product. Because the old pitch isn’t working anymore.
Keep a close eye on your market
