An old friend of mine taught me one of the most important marketing lessons ever a few years back. And here’s the weird part… he wasn’t even trying to teach me marketing, instead he was pointing out a stupid mistake I kept making with each girl I met.
Here’s what happened.
During college I had a minor streak as a pick up artist of sorts and got pretty damn good at getting girls to give me their numbers. However, I almost never got a date. This rustled my jimmies to no end. I’m generally good looking, my personality isn’t nearly as psychopathic as it takes to scare girls away… So I kept wondering where I was missing the mark…
When I explained this to a buddy of mine ( we called him T-1 ), he asked me the one question which changed how I looked at everything.
He said to me, in his deep voice of wizdom:
So, you got their numbers. But are you following up?
And just like that everything changed for me… well, it improved.
When I started following up with serious intent I started going on dates. I’d be lying if I didn’t say I was grateful for those wise words T-1 gave me.
And now, I pass his wizdom unto thee…
You see, his advice also applies in email marketing. When someone joins your mailing list It’s important to give them a swift and effective follow-up to make sure you don’t lose them.
It’s a big mistake to let someone join your list then… do nothing with the new lead. You’d be better off taking your list and flushing it down the toilet, then setting the toilet on fire rather than just letting it grow without a firm followup strategy. At least flushing them down is actually doing something with them instead of letting heap into a massive pile of names…
Anyways, if you want to craft a kickass followup strategy for your leads and list, then hop on over to ,a href=”write-my-emails”>http://jaymakoni.com/write-my-emails
And let’s turn your leads into stone cold moolah.
Till the next wave of madness.
