I rarely watch movies.
Not that I hate them but I get bored so fast I tend to tune out.
Am I the only one who thinks the past 4 years in the film industry have been a huge ass mess?
I mean, think about it for a second.
Everyone including their grandma was trying to ride the Marvel Avengers train by trying to launch their own piss poor clone of the cinematic universe.
You had that disapointing warcraft movie which was clearly trying too hard to set up its sequel…
You had The Amazing Spiderman 2 which was an okay film, except for the fact that they spent waaaay too much time showing us all the cool villain suits that would have been coming in the now… non existent follow-up films.
You had that god awful Mummy reboot, which clearly was trying to sell us on watching the movies right after it… but fogot to actually be fun.
Worst of all…
We have the worst offender…
DC comics and their DC cinematic universe films.
Man, you gotta give these guys credit… they tried.
unfortunately all they ended up doing was ripping off what Marvel was doing on the surface… while forgetting the other 90% of work Marvel put into their films.
These guys are essentially forcing you to pay for a glorified trailer of crap they expect to pay again to watch in future.
They seem to have forgotten that people go watch movies to have a good time…
To be told “there’s a huge ass universe coming so the plot won’t resolve this time… thatnks for money.”
Now moving on…
The difference between all these piss poor clones of the Marvel movies – and what marvel actually did…
Was how Marvel was actually careful to make sure WE CARED about their cinematic universe and characters, before giving us massive crossover films.
Marvel had been building up to the whole infity war crap ever since I was in the second year of highscool.
That’s well over ten years ago.
Spent nurturing us for their ultimate back end offers:
The two infinity war films.
… and this is why all those other attemps to do the same failed worse than Zimbabwe’s economy in the past 6 months.
They tried giving us the main backend offer of their films… while forgetting to actually make us care about them!
They never put in the time to nurture their fan base and build the emotional investment needed to stick with a franchise.
And so it is with your emails.
You can do things the Marvel way, and keep building a relationship with your customers… and make them care about your offer.
Or you can do things the piss poor way… and just blatantly try to sell while forgetting that the customer has to actually like and trust you before they buy.
And if you want to tap into the Marvel sales magic to build a relationship with your list, while selling the CRAP out of your product…
Then go on over here:
…till the next wave of madness…
