Earlier this evening a friend of mine admitted she was depressed.
I’m not surprised… and yes… I sympathise with her.
She’s in the middle of a gap year and the lack of mental stimulation and purpose is finally getting to her. There’s a limit to just how much “free time” the mind can tolerate before it starts losing it’s marbles.
Personally I never really had much of a gap year. I was always kept in motion by my big brothers so “free time” is not something I’m too fondly familiar with.
The three months I spent with my mother before I decided to go to college where fun… but taxing on me mentally. Having no idea what direction you’re moving in life is terrifyng and confusing.
But I did not dare stop moving after I wrote my final paper.
Right after college I jumped into a startup I had with some friends of mine, but that bit the dust faster than midnight shag with a one minute man. I then immediately tried roughing it as a freelance artist… but I knew jack shit about marketing myself and as such that career was as short lived as MC Hammer’s music career.
I only became a copywriter purely by accident.
And I didn’t start making any money from copy for a damn long time. Yet even then when I was not making any money from writing copy I had direction.
I knew where I was and where I wanted to go.
This is crucial.
When someone or something lacks direction all sorts of nasty shit starts happening. I’ve seen entire neighborhoods turn into Stoner-villes because of the desperate job situation in my country. Unemployed youths are everywhere… either getting drunk or getting high.
Or both at the same time.
Not that I have anything against booze and weed. But taking that stuff when you’re not employed or don’t have an income is a recipe for a total fucking disaster! My mom made SURE I understood that.
The lack of direction can kill ANY project in it’s roots.
And this is even more evident when it comes to marketing promotions and campaigns.
An email campaign without a defined end goal is about as useless as a bucket of water under the sea. Each email will be flying in it’s own direction doing jack shit to move the customer to the next level in the funnel.
Even without a grand strategy behind the email campaign… each email still needs a defined direction where it’s taking the reader.
Otherwise the reader is going to end up going from point A to point B. Through the rest of the alphabet of course. That’s a recipe for a confused prospect. and confused is not equal to a buyer.
So, if you want some direction in your email campaigns. Whether you’re trying to Upsell your leads after they make a purchase. or whether you’re trying to reengage your leads after a dormant period where you didn’t mail them.
Or whether you’re trying to turn subscribers into buyers… I can lend a hand. Join forces with me and let’s give your email campaigns some much needed direction for massive damage.
