I love looking at other artists for inspiration. So:
This morning while looking for new artists to stalk on Instacrap I came across this guy whose spent the past five years drawing comics of his life with his wife.
And later, his daughter after he became a father.
First thing that caught my eye was just how damn simple the style was. Second , and the most important thing was just how simple the stories where. Nothing mind blowing or groundbreaking.
He just took random stuff that happened during his day and turned it into a mini one page comic.
This formula worked so well, he pulled me into a 15 minute binge-fest where I ploughed through at least 50 of his comics. Just looking at at the stuff happening to him through his eyes.
And the funny part about all this?
His life is, for the most part just like ours. But we never appreciate this.
We all need to see life through someone else’s eyes to see just what we have to treasure.
The random momets with his baby daughter made what’s supposed to be my heart ( assuming I grew one in mom’s womb ) grow one size larger.
His random moment with his wife showed me just what it means to love someone, and to be loved. This also made my cold unfealing void of a heart grow another size larger… and beat once.
Yet the truly amazing thing is how it all kept me going.
I just wanted to know more about this guy’s life.
This is the same effect you can have on your subscribers when you tell them stories about your life. Its real strange when you think about it and even I try wrapping my head around it.
But people are just huge voyeurs ( not sure who I heard that from… maybe Matt Furey?… I dunno )
They’re so bored with their lives they’d rather enjoy watching somebody else’s.
Why do you think the Kardashians are famous? Certainly isn’t because they’re talented.
They just happen to goof off, on camera, in super expensive clothing and people eat that shit up like half cooked rice from a dirty sushi bowl. If you like the Kardashians, good for you. But that’s just not my cup of coffee.
I want my brain in tip top condition to write emails and draw… and write crazy status updates on Ye Olde Facebook. I can’t do that if I spend my time contaminating with the Kardashians… AKA Mind Cancer.
That being said, if you want emails that use simple, but engaging stories to keep your subscribers coming for more everyday WITHOUT giving them Mind Cancer, then go book your complementary Skype call with me here:
And I’ll get back to you on Monday. By the way, as it currently stands I have only ONE slot available for the complementary Skype call for this week.
So if you want to work with me better reserve your spot now. All future bookings will be pushed a bit further into the future.
As for me, I’m gonna take a bath now. It’s Sunday afternoon… Father’s day and I still haven’t even eaten breakfast…
…Till the next wave of madness… Vae Victis…
